Consulting Pathologists
Ken Mero, DVM, Ph.D.
Anatomic Pathologist
Dr. Mero’s interest in veterinary medicine began at a very young age, culminating in graduation from the University of California, Davis, with a B.S., M.S., and DVM degree and intent to become a practicing veterinarian. Following medical internship at the University of Saskatchewan and residence at the University of Pennsylvania, he spent several years in private practice.
While in private practice an intense interest in pathophysiology and the mechanisms of disease eventually led to a change in direction and training in veterinary pathology at Colorado State University, where he completed a formal residency program and earned his Ph.D. through independent research in the discipline of enteropathology. He has practiced his specialty in the diagnostic pathology setting for 17 years. He has been a consulting pathologist with Pal-Path since 1998.
His work has provided him with a wide variety of experiences, including service to the biotechnical research industry and participation in an environmental toxicologic study on-site in Alaska. His greatest satisfaction comes from evaluating cases in their complete clinical, clinico-pathologic, and anatomic pathologic aspects. A secondary casual interest is plant pathology.
Ken is an avid bicyclist and also derives pleasure from hiking, swimming, landscape architecture and photography, especially scenic geography and bits of "old Americana."
